"This solo was incredibly energetic and manipulated movement sequences with repetition...Clancy builds her movement with ferocious quality" (Shianne Antoine, BIDA 2nd Annual Showcase Review)
Originally set on Kayla Clancy, Bitten Tongue is a contemporary solo that explores the combative relationship between society and self through the lens of the female working class. With martial arts-inspired movements and powerful vocalizations, Bitten Tongue follows the dancer's journey toward being unapologetically confident.
This work has been featured in the Inertia Dance Concert, Baltimore Independent Dance Artists Choreographer’s Showcase, the SPRINGBOARD Performance Series, and the Peabody Dance! Festival.
